Terms of service

Ersatz Engineering is a UK-based sole-trader business. These terms apply alongside the quote and order confirmation provided for each order.

Quotes and files

Prices depend on the files and specifications supplied. If a file cannot be printed or the price needs to change, we will contact you before proceeding.

You must have the necessary rights or permission to reproduce any file you submit and are responsible for ensuring that your files and specifications are accurate. We may refuse work that is unlawful, infringes third-party rights, is unsafe or is unsuitable for our equipment or materials.

You retain ownership of your designs. Your files will be used to assess, prepare and fulfil your order.

File storage and deletion

Due to limited storage capacity, uploaded 3D model files are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to prepare and fulfil your order. Files will be deleted after the order has been completed, and we cannot guarantee that files will be available for future reprints. Customers should retain their own copies of their original files.

Any retention required to resolve an issue or meet a legal obligation will be limited to what is necessary.

Print preparation

Where necessary, we may orient, support or make adjustments to models to prepare them for printing.

Large models may be hollowed where appropriate to improve printability. Hollowed prints require access or drainage holes, which may remain visible. Please tell us before ordering if you require a solid print or have specific requirements for hole placement.

Resin prints may have support marks and minor surface or dimensional variations.

Payment, production and delivery

Prices and shipping charges are shown at checkout or confirmed before work starts. Production and delivery dates are estimates unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If a change to your supplied files or specifications affects the price or work required, we will contact you before proceeding.

Intended use

Unless specifically agreed in writing, prints are not certified for medical, food-contact, load-bearing, safety-critical, high-temperature or regulated applications. You are responsible for checking that the selected material and finished print are suitable for your intended use.

Legal rights and privacy

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful or removes your statutory consumer rights.
